All three days were packed with great competition, which made it fun, but also very long. This is the first time that I’ve been to the Disney festival, but I heard that its being going on for some time now.

The few annoying things was the weather (raining, and somewhat humid), and the lack of cabs at the sports complex. Maybe next years I’ll rent a car instead.

Overall, awesome event / competition that didn’t cater to one style.

I can still feel the energy from these kids when viewing the pictures. Scary huh?

The Olympic style Tae Kwon Do sparring was also enjoyable to see. I did notice lots of coaches get annoyed about the rules. The biggest one seemed to be stepping out of the ring and getting points deducted for it. I was amused that when people score points, many scream out for joy with their hands up. And because not everyone stops right away, I saw a few people get hit in the face and their mouth guard go flying. I can imagine that its a very bad habit, and I don’t know the reasoning behind it. Maybe someone can educate me.

At night was the showcase event. Lots of martial arts styles were represented, giving awesome performances.

This was my first time watching a mixed competition, and it was quite fun to watch. The first day was qualifiers, and the second day was the actual championships.

Other events of the day included creative weapons, creative forms, judo, point sparring, and sports grappling. It was hard to see everything since so many things were going on at the same time, but the creative weapons was interesting. Many of forms included flips and break dancing style moves with traditional techniques.
