EVDO Antenna Review

At Defcon, I bought an EVDO antenna from one of the vendors for $30. The dealer stated that I could see up to 2x the upload and download speed. After doing tests in a few cities, I can say that the antenna does increase speed.

Black Hat: Conclusion

Just like always, Black Hat was great. I got learn a bunch, and met a lot of interesting people. Most of the speakers were excellent, but some of them could use lessons in public speaking.

Black Hat: Vendor Parties

A conference wouldn’t be complete if there weren’t vendor parties at night.
The best one I attended was the SPI Dynamics party at TAO. They had an open bar serving top shelf liquor, and they had an assortment of appetizers like sushi, lobster and shrimp dumplings, chilean sea bass, and kobe beef sliders.

Defcon: Badges

Joe Grand did an awesome job on this year’s Defcon badges. There is a LED array allowing custom text to scroll, and there are expansion options like a triple-axis accelerometer, and a 2.4GHz RF tranceiver. The schematics were on the Defcon cdrom, and it is very hacker friendly.
